EICC - Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition
As part of the EICC Code all organizations who are providing goods and services to design the production of electronic goods, marketing, manufacturing or supply, are considered to be part of the electronics industry. The Code can be used voluntarily by every company in this sector and can therefore be applied at its supply chain and subcontractors, including providers of contract labour.
To use the Code and become participant, a company has to pledge its support for the Code and actively pursue compliance with the Code and its standards in, accordance with a management system which is herein established.
Participants must regard the Code as an initiative for the entire supply chain and have to require in any case that their suppliers take note and apply the Code as well.
Fundamental for the application of the Code is that in all its activities a company understands that it must comply its operations to all laws, rules and regulations of the countries in which it operates. The Code encourages participants to go beyond legal compliance, based on internationally recognized standards, to promote social and environmental responsibility and business ethics. The provisions of this Code are in line with the UN Guiding Principles on business and human rights and they are derived from the major international human rights standards, including the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations.
